Silicon Valley Half Marathon, San Jose

On short notice, I decided to compete in the Silicon Valley Half Marathon since the course practically runs in front of my place from San Jose to Los Gatos. As part of my marathon training, I had to get a long run and a tempo run in anyways. Granted it turned out to be a long tempo run!
I managed to finished second in 1h16' behind Christian Hesch from Morro Bay. I knew I was in trouble when Christian padded me on the back at the starting line, since I know how fast he can run from my time in San Luis Obispo. He has only gotten faster since, scary! Considering he should have really been running in the Olympic Marathon Trials in NYC that weekend and not in our backyard, it actually didn't feel too bad when he took off after jogging a mile at our pace to start out! Thanks for the company Christian :) I guess I wouldn't have had room in my place for a treadmill anyways!
After Christian left us in the dust, Tim Naylor and I formed a Tri-alliance making sure that former and current tri-geeks would secure all the sports on the podium. How about the old joke that triathletes can't run?
I was very happy with my performance and time since there is a net elevation gain and the course is pretty hilly.
